Senior Insurance Accountant - Gibraltar

Job Purpose:

My client is an independent insurance management, fiduciary and financial advisory group. Due to continued growth they have a vacancy for a Senior Insurance Accountant to fulfil internal and external financial reporting requirements for client companies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage the monthly management accounts
  • Preparation of annual budget and reforecasts
  • Preparation of the coinsurance and quota share bordereaux
  • Cash flow management
  • Conduct accurate and timely inter-company accounting and invoicing
  • Liaise with the auditors at year end and on an ongoing basis as and when required
  • Responsible for managing the auditors in their preparation of statutory accounts and corporation tax returns
  • Overview of banking and investments of client
  • Prepare legal, statutory and regulatory returns, to include but not limited to: FSC returns, IPT, ABI, MIB, FOS, FSCS, LFB
  • Undertaking work in the completion of reporting on Solvency 2 Pillar I and III requirements

GENERAL

  • Maintain accurate and up to date process notes
  • Undertake project work as required
  • Work closely with the other team members to provide coordinated service to the business
  • To ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times
  • Any other duties as reasonably required

Job Specific Competencies:

Qualifications

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified

Experience

  • Strong experience in a similar insurance accounting role
  • Supervisory experience is an advantage

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good time management and organisation skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • People management and leadership skills and ability to motivate employees in a high pressurised environment
  • Problem solving skills, with the ability to identify problems and adopt a logical approach to resolving problems

  • Excellent knowledge of how to prepare accounts in line with regulations and policies
  • Sound understanding of the structure of the group and its operations and objectives
