Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Health care - London/remote

My new client are undergoing a large Infrastructure Refresh Programme to modernise, consolidate and strategically align our hosting and networking Infrastructure. They are looking for a Senior Engineer with strong Architecture skills to work with our Servers, Network & Security squad (SNS) to drive the design and implementation of required solutions include Application modernisation, SD-WAN refresh, Firewall upgrades, as well as leading on defining standards and compliance and regulatory activities.

Skills & Experience:

• Proficiency in network architecture, protocols, and topologies.
• Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Nutanix or Hyper-V.
• Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
• Experience in the design and authoring of HL and LL designs in the infrastructure engineering.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing complex infrastructure solutions.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure principles and best practices.
• Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements relevant to the organisation, e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR.
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms like Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
• Expertise in server operating systems, particularly Windows Server and Linux distributions.
• Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in infrastructure design and architecture.
• Effective stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities/deliverables:

1. Lead on the technical authoring and implementation of key projects within the Infrastructure Refresh Programme, including but not limited to:
2. Application Modernisation
3. SD-WAN Refresh
4. Firewall Upgrades
5. Define and document a set of standards that meet current industry, ISO 27001 Compliance, NHS Compliance and Regulatory standards relating to infrastructure.
6. Lead on the assessment of all SNS-owned apps and services against the above standards and produce and action a remediation plan where non-compliance exists.
7. Proactively engage with wider business stakeholders to ensure all incoming requests meet the Infrastructure and Architecture requirements outlined in the Service Delivery model.
8. Includes supporting on the creation of HL and LL designs, alongside infrastructure planning, workshops and knowledge sharing sessions.
9. Ad-hoc support on SNS projects and deliveries as required, including on standard decoms, migrations, upgrades, and other infrastructure engineering work.
