Job Summary:

Working with the Head of Information and Data Management, the Data Architect will design and deliver the data management strategy necessary to store, move, manage and utilise data.

This strategy will help towards achieving CAA’s business objectives in the most appropriate and efficient manner. It will ensure a strategy that provides the most efficient management of, and enables the most effective use of, the authorities data and information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and delivery of CAA’s data management strategy and architecture e.g. design, delivering and ensuring the ongoing monitoring and adherence of the strategy and architecture to ensure business benefit is being delivered.
  • Acting as Data Architect on key project and management of data specialists working to deliver these projects e.g. Project Data Architecture needs, and leading contract resource as needed for a project
  • Oversight of business activities to ensure compliance to the architectural standards and guidelines defined e.g. the development of processes to monitor adherence to standards and guidelines and the resolution of non-adherence
  • Establishment of metrics for tracking and measurement of data architecture initiatives and the reporting back at all levels across the organisation
  • Development of the Data Architecture roadmap and its integration to the wider enterprise architecture
  • Be the technical design authority for data over all internal and external projects

Person specification

It is important through your CV / Cover Letter that you give evidence of proven experience of each of the following essential criteria:

Essential Requirements:

  • Broad knowledge of all architectural disciplines
  • Strong understanding or all data management activities and the delivery of strategies in these areas
  • Ability to collaborate and influence at all levels.
  • Conceptual, logical and physical data modelling
  • Deep understanding of Master and Reference Data Management
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in the data management field
  • Proven track record of delivering data architecture in a complex environment.
  • The ability to explain complex concepts to all levels across the organisation.

Additional information

Location:
CAA offers hybrid working for its employees. This means that whilst the role is based at their Gatwick office, there is substantial opportunity to work from home most of the time, however it is for the employee and their line manager to agree the balance between home and workplace working - determined primarily by business need. Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Relocation expenses are not available.

The Selection Process

Clearance required:
The post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance. To be vetted we will usually expect a reasonable period of residency in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken. For this role this will need to be 5 years.
