SCPHN School Nurse
The successful candidate must have the ability and confidence to work autonomously as well as part of a skill mix team and work as a team member of the integrated children’s service team alongside colleagues from Health and the Local Authority. You must have experience of working within a multi-agency environment. We currently deliver an excellent public health model of care in this remote and rural setting which has a child centred approach, working with children aged 5-19 years of age, their parents/carers and all involved in the school community.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with Specialist Community Public Health (School Nursing) qualification.
Responsibilities will include management of a defined caseload and using public health approaches to provide and maintain a high quality service that promotes the physical, mental health and well being of the school aged population in the 17 Primary schools, 2 Secondary schools and 3 Junior High Schools on the Orkney Mainland and 9 outer islands.
The role will include health screening/surveillance, health promotion and a requirement to support the health needs of vulnerable children/young people within the caseload as well as participating in child protection.
