School HR Officer

£37,000 - £40,000 DOE


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a School Business Manager to join a leading School in Wimbledon.

You will work closely with the Headteacher in the development of policies, plans and procedures ensuring that all objectives and priorities are implemented. You will also play a key part in the collation, analysis and presentation of information to the Headteacher on performance against targets set out in the School's improvement plan.

Your key responsibilities will include:


- Ensuring administrative and PA support is provided for the Headteacher

- Ensuring Human Resource (HR) policies are in place and are regularly reviewed

Human Resources

- Ensuring HR advice is available to senior leaders

- Ensuring that good personnel practice is followed throughout the organisation

- Ensure that all newly appointed staff receive a contract of Employment and job description within the statutory period and maintain oversight of all employment contracts, job descriptions and personnel files

- Ensuring that a Staff Development Policy and Programme is initiated and successfully delivered and responsible for collating information on staff CPD / training

- Ensure that the School's staffing establishment is monitored, can respond to new requirements and that changes are made only after consultation

- Ensure that the Pay and Conditions for all staff meet statutory requirements

- Implement a workforce strategy to address and where possible, reduce high levels of agency staffing

- Ensure compliance with all legislative requirement relating to human resources and that recruitment policy and practices fully comply with best practice relating to Child Protection and safeguarding

Child Protection / Safeguarding

- To be fully aware of and understand the duties and responsibilities arising from the Children Act 2004 and 'Working Together to safeguard children' as these apply to the role within the organisation

- To be fully aware of the principals of safeguarding as they apply to vulnerable adults in relation to the role

- To ensure that line managers are made aware and kept fully informed of any concerns which workers may have in relation to safeguarding and / or child protection and liaise appropriately with the Safeguarding Lead

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills / experience:

- Previous experience within a similar role

- Strong understanding of Safeguarding policies

- HR / Personnel qualification

- CIPD Qualified

- Budget management

- Working knowledge of SIMS

- Strong IT Skills

- Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders

- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

- Valid DBS
