Industry: Commercial Insurance Underwriting
Job Type: Permanent
This traditional RUM role provides an experienced Underwriting professional the opportunity to flourish, leading the regional mid-market team with full responsibility for the P&L, growth, strategy and management of an established underwriting team.
·An established name in the UK market, this business is amongst the most progressive - backed by strong financial results and an increasing market share.
·Already established in the Midlands market, this role is designed to drive growth of the existing mid-market book over the next 3-5 year period through a structured programme backed by genuine capacity and commercial appetite.
·The business is a genuine employer of choice both in regards to remuneration packages and the opportunities to develop.
·You will take responsibility for all aspects of driving the team including people management, underwriting excellence, broker relationships and ultimately P&L performance and growth.
·You'll be the focal point from a technical perspective, providing guidance, referral, sign-off and mentoring to the team (supported by the senior underwriter) as well as ensuring profitable performance as well as reporting to and liaising with head office.
·The focus is very much on growth, but not at the expense of an established, profitable book with strong ratio's - your task is to ensure that a healthy commercial appetite is employed pragmatically and is underpinned by strong underwriting measures.
·A further key element of your role will be stakeholder and relationship management with supporting and new brokers.
·As a senior commercial underwriter, you will either be managing a team/regional book already, or looking to further your career into a role with challenges of this nature.
·You'll demonstrate the ability, experience and knowledge to manage an expanding account (and team as required), both on a case and portfolio basis. You'll also demonstrate outstanding communication skills whilst trading with the market and nurturing colleagues.
·Naturally candidates in a similar role will be considered, as will senior/technical/development underwriters looking to progress.
·ACII and/or similar risk management qualification are preferred.
