Purchasing Manager

An interesting position has become available for a Purchasing Manager to work with an interesting and very well established company world renowned for their bespoke machinery electronics solutions based in the heart of rural Gloucestershire.

Job Purpose

To manage and ensure the efficient delivery of activities within the purchasing function and components stores.

Main duties and responsibilities

*Manage the company's sourcing and procurement of materials, products and services, ensuring cost efficiency, maintenance of department to ISO9001:2015 quality standards and compliance with company and legal requirements.

*Line management of the purchasing team and component stores team, managing issues and encouraging development of team members.

*Manage and develop supplier base, including managing and negotiating supplier contracts; managing supplier relationships; and monitoring and feedback on supplier performance.

*Support new product development activities, working with the Engineering team.

*Lead on and oversee inventory and stock management.

*Lead on and manage tendering processes.

*Monitor processes and practice to continuously improve the function.

*Develop, maintain and ensure adherence to procurement processes.

Required experience, skills and knowledge

*Previous purchasing experience at manager level is essential and from within a similar electro-mechanical manufacturing environment would be desirable.

*Experience of supplier and contract management.

*Experience of utilising and developing MRP and ERP systems.

*Proven management experience, able to motivate and deliver through others.

*Working knowledge of current import/export regulations and procedures.

*Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

*Knowledge of manufacturing and operations processes.

*Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

*Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills.

*Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
