PURCHASING MANAGER CIRCA £45K

We are currently working with a Manufacturing business who are currently looking to recruit a sourcing manager in a new role.The ideal candidates will have experience of working in a similar role.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the supply chain activities for all projects are coordinated and managed effectively to deliver all SQDC requirements
  • Identify, evaluate and develop suppliers to best meet the current and future needs of the business and Engineering projects
  • Liaise with Engineering on all projects to fully understand technical, commercial and time scale requirements to ensure suppliers meet expectation
  • Track all material costs against initial estimates and escalate any risk of margin erosion with project teams and commercial management
  • Identify areas of risk in the supply chain, effectively prioritise, develop and implement plans to mitigate such risks
  • Develop and maintain a robust list of approved suppliers capable of supporting multiple projects
  • Develop supplier relationships and drive improvement in supplier performance
  • Effectively manage the impact on inventory value of all material movements, projects and product life cycles
  • Ensure all supplier or sub-contract activities are performed safely with zero accidents
  • Ensure use of preferred carrier agreements where practicable and logistic analysis is conducted to determine most cost effective and efficient transport modes
  • Continuously benchmark suppliers, analyse pricing trends and utilise cost models to defend against price increases, achieve price decreases and best total cost of ownership solutions
  • Proactively resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Ensure systems are fully supported and utilised to
  • Ensure policies and procedures are developed and maintained to reflect current working practices
  • Develop and maintain an approved supplier list to serve as an initial reference for sourcing activities
  • Effective Project Management and coordination to deliver all materials and projects in line with SQDC requirements
  • Regularly review all KPI’s, prioritise, develop and implement plans to improve the performance of the Supply Chain
  • Maximise the payment terms with suppliers
  • Manage inventory levels and develop supplier strategies for inventory reduction
  • Monitor and analyse freight data to develop supplier strategies to reduce freight cost, reduce lead times and improve customer service

Personal Specification:

  • Hold a CIP’s qualification or equivalent professional
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Project Management experience in Engineering environment
  • Knowledge of purchasing and quality procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of inventory management and Lean replenishment systems
  • Must be able to travel as required and hold current driving license
