Salary: between £27-£29k pa dependant on skills and experience

Location: YO26, near Wetherby, North Yorkshire - Applicants must have their own transport or reside locally

Full-time, Permanent, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Are you experienced in Buying/Purchasing/Procurement and looking for a new challenge? Do you have an eye for pricing and data? Do you have an eye for detail? Can you successfully communicate with suppliers and shippers? If so, then this could be the role for you.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Buyer to join our growing team at our head office and warehouse location near Wetherby, in North Yorkshire. We import natural stone and porcelain tiles and other products from around the world and we have five retail showrooms across the UK.

This is a new and exciting role due to our expanding business, and you will have the opportunity to help to establish the new role and procedures.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for purchasing of all porcelain and stone tiles and other products.
  • Liaising with suppliers in Europe and around the world.
  • Ensuring all goods are purchased at the agreed rates, on time and that goods are received within expected lead times.
  • Monitoring stock levels and ensuring items that are running low are ordered and received on time to prevent run out, considering supplier lead times.
  • Forecasting of all items, reviewing usages monthly and updating forecasts as necessary.
  • Creating and maintaining records of up to date supplier pricing and lead-time information.
  • Negotiating better prices/service across all suppliers, particularly those with high usage.
  • Organising collection of goods with shippers and planning/monitoring delivery, liaising with the Warehouse Department on incoming shipments.
  • Work with the accounts team to match delivery notes to invoices, ensuring all prices agree to purchase order price and quantities received. Discrepancies and damages being raised immediately and solutions managed, reaching agreement with the supplier.
  • Support the warehouse with establishing a new inventory management system and stock taking.
  • Any other duties to compliment the role.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience working in a purchasing role. Coming from a strong background in a similar industry would be ideal.
  • Candidate should be a self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as part of a team, using own initiative to problem solve.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are essential and the ability to quickly learn other software applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, telephone and email communication skills.
