Purchasing Assistant

Optima Plus Recruitment are supporting a leading Manufacturing business based in Stoke On Trent, due to continued growth they are looking for a motivated purchasing assistant to join their team. You will be responsible for the daily communication with suppliers to form effective relationships and to ensure consistent material availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raising purchase orders obtaining stock availability, lead times, cost comparison and alternative sources of supply
  • Managing stock levels and purchasing in line with requirements via MRP system
  • Chasing overdue orders and rescheduling deliveries
  • Negotiating with suppliers and monitoring performance KPI's
  • Obtaining costs and sourcing new suppliers
  • Efficient communication with all relevant departments in relation to material updates

Required and Abilities

  • Positive attitude with the ability to motivate others
  • A background within a similar role ideally within a technical fast-paced environment
  • Experience of ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Liaising with both UK international suppliers
  • Driving licence to enable access to other sites
