An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Assistant to join a dynamic and fast growing online business based in Clapham, London. The business is ISO 9001:2008 accredited and retailing healthcare products to customers in the UK and Europe. Founded in 2008, we pride ourselves in providing high quality and innovative healthcare products combined with excellent customer service. Our customers include hospitals, sports clubs, physiotherapists, athletes and councils.

We require a candidate to work in our Procurement and Buying Team who can work quickly under pressure whilst remaining organised. The Purchasing Assistant’s role will involve raising purchase orders for stock and liaising with suppliers regarding pricing and stock availability. You will work closely with all areas of the business including Goods Inwards, Dispatch, Customer Services and Accounts.

The business is constantly growing and diversifying into new and exciting fields. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn a huge amount about e-commerce and the buying and procurement processes within online retail. For the right candidate there are opportunities to progress within the business.

As a Purchasing Assistant your duties will include:

- Raising purchase orders for stock.
- Processing data from numerous sources of data to compile orders including current sales, historic sales and seasonal variations.
- Ensuring orders are placed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Updating internal systems with order dates and lead times.
- Liaising with suppliers regarding stock availability and pricing.
- Liaising with suppliers for order updates and product details.
- Daily checking activities to ensure that all outstanding purchase orders have been placed with suppliers.
- Ensuring orders are not missed via a daily check of pending orders.
- Maintaining up to date supplier pricing.
- Negotiating with suppliers for trade discounts based on account performance and/or bulk purchase orders.
- Monitoring internal stock levels.
- Working with internal departments to ensure customer orders are processed as quickly as possible.
- Processing of Goods Inwards and Dispatch paperwork, and updating internal systems.
- Managing discontinued products.
- Communicating and collaborating with all departments within the organisation to ensure the needs of the business are met.

The ideal Purchasing Assistant will hold the following skills and experiences:

- Focus and commercial intelligence.

- Basic use of Microsoft Excel.
- Good maths skills.
- Must be fluent in English.

The working hours of this Purchasing Assistant role are 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday (37.5 paid working hours per week).  In return you will receive a salary of £20,000 to £24,000 per annum (based on experience).
