SSE Distributed Energy (DE) is currently expanding our portfolio of services and solutions by moving into the Smart Cities & Places (SCP) space. We are targeting rapid growth in this part of the business, and beginning a transformation process, focusing on decentralised, smart energy combined with telecoms and digital solutions.
As Project Director, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and execution of the Smart Cities & Places programme; defining business vision and strategy and will have direct responsibility for leading Major Projects and Propositions for the SSE DE businesses within Dublin and Ireland. The projects and propositions will be predominately Smart Cities and Places related activity.
Working as a member of the Major Projects Management Team, you will work as the lead person with clients, stakeholders and partners to support and define propositions, leading into bid stage and delivery. You will ensure that diligent governance and authorisation is followed, and comprehensive project plans are developed, inclusive of a positive safety plan.
You'll be responsible for identifying effective optimal delivery, operational and customer services solutions. Delivering profit to the P&L through effective and rigorous management of these solutions including procurement, project management, commercial, service delivery and profit of the operations of the group.
In particular, you'll be accountable for the P+L of Major Projects with values upwards of £50M. Working with the Distributed Energy Leadership Team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of business strategy with policies and practices to manage and measure effective delivery.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Accountable for project delivery, ensuring suitable resource allocation and managing key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
- Developing business plans and ensure readiness on an ongoing basis for regular review.
- Ownership of financial targets, inclusive of commercial modelling and Project P&L delivery
- Creating compelling business cases, presentation and reports delivering to Executive Leadership team.
- Developing business plans and ensuring readiness on an ongoing basis for regular review. Assessing risks, collaborating and problem solving to reduce challenges and bringing your team on the journey, celebrating key milestones and success.
Your Skills & Experience
You will be operating at leadership level within one of the key target areas for SSE within the Smart Cities and Places market (energy centres, district heating networks, distributed energy schemes, energy storage, electric vehicles, solar PV, private networks, connectivity & data).
You'll bring extensive commercial acumen with the ability to assess opportunities and support proposition development. You'll have experience managing high value projects and programmes of work. Furthermore, be a skilled relationship manager, capable of delivering complex large projects, Joint Venture agreements, contract management and negotiation; combined with substantial knowledge of project risk assessments.
You'll have the leadership capability to build a high performing, resilient and engaged team, with the ability to overcome challenges, ensuring a high quality delivery of all projects in a deadline driven environment.
