Support the development, implementation and communication of the knowledge strategy for the Corporate group, working closely with the Corporate Practice Regional Lead for London, the Corporate Knowledge Partner, the Head of M&A and the Global and Regional Heads of Knowledge.
Help develop a "knowledge-first" culture within the group and promote the sharing and dissemination of know-how within the Corporate team.
Participate in global, central knowledge projects and initiatives as and when required.
Help to bring efficiencies to the group's practice of law, e.g., assist with legal process improvement and legal project management to improve the group's ability to service its clients efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.
Assist with the collection, drafting, maintenance, automation and updating of the group's knowledge, particularly model documents and sample documents (including precedents from other firms or arising out of transactions), to ensure that a comprehensive set of first class knowledge materials is accessible to all lawyers in the group.
Manage the group’s knowledge pages on the firm's intranet and other knowledge repositories, ensuring they are in line with firm standards, structured in an easily accessible way and kept up to date.
Develop relationships with lawyers who have experience relevant to the Corporate M&A group and others involved in M&A within London and facilitate the sharing of quality knowledge and experience with other Corporate PSLs.
Respond to queries from fee earners and track queries to identify knowledge and training needs.
Introduce fee earners joining the group to the group's knowledge resources.
Firm wide community
Coordinate with other Corporate PSLs and with PSLs supporting other practice/industry sector groups, sharing knowledge and best practices and encouraging the alignment of the Corporate M&A team's knowledge plans with those of other groups.
Participate in knowledge community initiatives.
Follow and encourage global practices and standards.
Help to establish a knowledge sharing culture within the firm and the Corporate group.
Develop and promote the firm’s knowledge systems and processes within the Corporate group and liaise with lawyers to gather feedback.
Collaborate with the business services departments, including Marketing & Business Development, Learning & Development, Legal Project Management, Research & Library and IT.
Current Awareness and Thought Leadership:
Research, monitor and analyse legal, market and industry developments and trends, considering how they will affect the group's practice and its clients.
Draft and coordinate current awareness updates, client alerts, submissions to public consultations and other thought leadership publications.
Identify key legal developments and “hot topics” that provide an opportunity to showcase the firm’s experience and insight via client alerts, pitches, directory and award submissions, webinars, seminars, article submissions, opportunities to pitch to the press and other client-facing collateral; provide the legal research and legal technical content needed to produce such products. Candidate ProfileMinimum of 5 years transactional experience or equivalent working in the corporate M&A team of a large international law firm.
Qualifications and Training
Public and private mergers and acquisitions, including share and asset/business sales and related stock exchange (main market and AIM) issues and other regulatory issues and advisory work.
Joint ventures (including corporate (for example, shareholder agreements) and contractual (for example, unincorporated strategic alliances)).
Transaction-related and standalone advisory work for main market and AIM-listed companies (including on Listing Rule and AIM Rule compliance and MAR).
Previous experience of working as a PSL in a large international law firm would be advantageous but is not essential.
