Production Supervisor

The Company

MTrec are proudly representing one of the North East’s leading manufacturers. As they continue to grow their business, we are looking to recruit into new full-time roles as Production Supervisors. You will be responsible for assisting the Production Managers to achieve defined objectives for a specific area of manufacturing processes by leading a team of production operatives in an efficient and positive working environment. This requires taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of people and developing them into a cohesive team to ensure that defined objectives and output targets are met, achieving customer requirements whilst ensuring compliance with company operating and health & safety procedures. The key performance measures will relate to costs and reduction targets, product volume, human resource efficiency and quality with a continuous improvement goal.

The Role

  • Carry out a suitable shift handover to the next shift
  • Supervise employees and manage production activities
  • Drive performance of team members giving direction and feedback to aid good performance
  • Ensure adherence to established quality guidelines and safety requirements
  • Determine manufacturing priorities based on production schedules
  • Utilise lean manufacturing techniques to strive to exceed targets
  • Direct all related personnel actions: advise operatives, execute performance measurements, etc
  • Ensure optimum machine/equipment utilisation
  • Determine working instructions, rules and guidelines for production sections, shifts or production lines
  • Allocate operatives and resources according to production plan
  • Provide a lead to all operatives
  • Ensure execution of production plan
  • Make daily/hourly assignment changes
  • Work with Maintenance to resolve machine/equipment breakdowns
  • Ensure internal delivery supports dispatch time schedules
  • Resolve customer concerns and take corrective actions to eliminate repeat
  • Alert Production Manager to changes which affect overall production targets with proposal for recovery
  • Advise Production Manager and any relevant Management of any event which requires action

The Person

  • Must have had industry experience working within an automotive engineering/manufacturing environment
  • Must have experience of people management having held a similar role
  • Will ideally have a relevant degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or technical discipline
  • Will have knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Build, cultivate and maintain strong client relationships
  • A working knowledge of, or hands-on experience with, automotive production processes
  • Must be computer literate with a very good knowledge in the use of all Microsoft Office packages
  • Must have very good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Must have a full UK drivers licence


Dayshift £33,719.18 per annum (£14.79 basic plus £2.64 shift premium plus hourly bonus*)

Nightshift £41,625.00 per annum (£14.79 basic plus £4.22 shift premium plus hourly bonus*)

*hourly bonus of £1.52 per hour paid once your 6 month probationary period has been successfully completed

The company makes a 3% pension contribution


We offer an excellent working environment in which you will be required to work shifts as follows:-

Dayshift 4 on 4 off 08:00am to 18:15pm (with a half hour unpaid lunchbreak)

Nightshift Monday to Thursday 21:45pm to 08:00am (with a half hour unpaid lunchbreak)

You will move around all three shifts for training and familiarity so you will need to be flexible
