Part Time, Reduced Hours. Long term role within Newport.
A job has become available for a Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 child with hearing impairments. This job is working within a large, mainstream, Primary School on the edge of Newport. The school draws from a mixed catchment area and has a whole-school behaviour management approach, so you will need to be able to adhere to school behaviour policies, as well as drawing upon your own experience and techniques.
The school are looking for someone to work on a long term basis, working the reduced hours of 9 -2, five days a week.
You will need to be able work very closely with the class teacher, providing feedback to the class teacher where appropriate as well as working with the teacher to plan and prepare resources. You will be empathetic and understanding and will nurture/support the child in all aspects, including emotional support. You will build rapport with the child in order to facilitate a good working relationship based on trust and confidence. You will use your experience of supporting challenging behaviour, to ensure that the child is engaged and on-task.
In order to apply for this position it is essential that you have the following;
Proven experience of working with children within a primary school setting Experience of supporting in a 1:1 capacity Good behaviour management skills/experience and the ability to build rapport with the child
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
An adaptable and pro-active attitude
The ability to work as part of a team to create a positive and progressive learning environment
