Lending Documentation Officer

We currently have 2 vancancies for 12 months fixed term contracts, for Lending Documentation specialists.
Lending Documentation provides legal documentation to the relationship teams within Corporate and Commercial Banking. The department is responsible for producing facility/ amendment letters and ancillary documents.
The role demands drafting robust legal documentation which reflects the credit sanction and the commercial terms agreed with the customer. Exploration of instructions is required to identify discrepancies and/ or missing information. Key elements of the role are ensuring that risk is minimised and that there is meaningful engagement with the relationship and Credit teams.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
o Educated to degree standard (preferably in law) or the ACIB.
o Diploma in Legal Practice (LPC) with more than 12 months' paralegal experience in a commercial area of law OR substantial experience as a corporate banker drafting facility documentation within a specialist team (including an element of non-standard documentation).
o Understanding of legal principles relating to different types of legal entity/ person (e.g. companies, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, ordinary partnerships, sole traders and trusts) including an awareness of constitution, capacity, authority and execution formalities.
o In-depth knowledge of different facility types.
o Understanding of security principles and different security types/ structures.
o Thorough appreciation of legal and operational risk.
o High level of attention to detail.
o Good drafting and analytical skills.
o Demonstrable self-motivation/ proactive approach.
o Ability to work to tight timescales and prioritise appropriately.
o Strong customer focus.
o Experience of managing expectations of customers (internal or external) or other stakeholders.
The following would be advantageous but not essential (as training can be provided):
o Basic competency in Excel.
o Experience of conducting rudimentary searches at the Land Registry and Companies House.
o Awareness of the consumer credit regime and related exemptions in the UK.
