Due to their continued growth and expansion, this leading professional services firm is looking to recruit a Learning & Development (L&D) Advisor to join their Birmingham-based HR team, part of the firm’s Business Operations group.

The Academy is the firm’s centre for all development - workshops, resources, guidance and information to help all their people develop and stretch their knowledge and capability. The purpose of The Academy is to develop talented and passionate people who can:

This L&D role represents an exciting opportunity for someone with a genuine desire to progress their career in L&D. Working closely for, with, and under the guidance of the Head of Development, you will be part of a small team providing a high quality and responsive L&D service to the firm through The Academy.

You will be involved in supporting colleagues with their development needs through the design and delivery of high-quality training, coaching and consulting with individuals and teams across the firm.

L&D Advisor - Key duties will include:

  • the design, set-up, delivery and evaluation of core skills-based development programmes within The Academy
  • supporting the firm’s Performance Review process and online system, to help both reviewers and reviewees have effective performance and development conversations
  • discussing development requirements with individuals across the firm to help them identify potential solutions
  • managing the firm’s annual Associate Development Programme (ADP)
  • managing the firm’s internal Mentoring programme
  • working with the Head of Development to manage the firm’s annual Newly Qualified (NQ) Solicitor Conference
  • offering advice and guidance to internal presenters to support the firm’s high standards of design and delivery
  • raising awareness of The Academy across the firm, including working with the Head of Development and the Clients & Markets team to identify innovative ways to promote The Academy across the firm
  • understanding and making use of all L&D systems and processes, to ensure all necessary administration to support The Academy is carried out effectively
  • undertaking other L&D and broader HR projects and duties as directed by the Head of Development

L&D Advisor - Skills and experience you will have:

  • a minimum of 6 months’ previous experience in an L&D role where you have developed others through the design and delivery of training solutions
  • prior exposure to a professional services firm is desired, not essential
  • previous experience of / qualification in a recognised psychometric tool, such as Insights Discovery or MBTI, is welcomed

  • excellent consultancy skills - the ability to discuss potential challenges and help others identify potential solutions and / or development needs
  • a high degree of organisation and be able to prioritise effectively
  • to embrace changing processes and continuous improvement
  • the ability to work autonomously
  • the ability to be flexible in working location and hours as and when appropriate
