Junior Process Engineer

Your next boss, our Quality Manager, was in your shoes six years ago: seeking employment at an aerospace manufacturer, he was blown away by the variety of processes and equipment on our site. The Role:

  • Maintaining NADCAP compliance for chemical processing
  • The overseeing, maintenance, and upkeep of two laboratories
  • Reviewing, interpreting and reporting test data
  • Writing PQPs for special projects, when process changes are required
  • Preparing reports and attending internal and external meetings
  • Overseeing the Process Bay - 30 large tanks featuring acid types, used to prepare metals for manufacturer
  • Resolving environmental health and safety issues for the update of COSHH records and annual EA submissions

Working Environment:

  • 8am to 4pm from Monday to Thursday inclusive and 8am to 1pm on Fridays
  • Reporting to the Quality Manager, alongside a QA Administrator, Quality Engineer, Special Process Engineer, Laboratory Technicians
  • Although this isn’t a management position, you’ll be comfortable providing leadership and direction

Location and Travel:

  • Based in Sheffield, we have employees who live in Nottingham, Leeds and Hull
  • Sheffield is a vibrant city packed with music, restaurants, nightlife, sport, and shopping; also, the Peak District is close by
  • We will consider candidates who would be happy to relocate for this position
  • Access to your own vehicle would be convenient for ad-hoc client visits

The Benefits:

  • Annual salary of between £35,000 and £40,000 based on experience
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Pension (5%)
  • Life Assurance (4x)
  • 25 days’ holiday each year; this can be broken down into hours if necessary
  • 13 week’s full pay, for sick leave, if required

Experience Requirements:

  • Proven chemical engineering experience at an aerospace manufacturer or similar; for example, an oil and gas context involving titanium
  • Past experience of industry issues and maintaining NADCAP compliance requirements
    Metallurgy; you’ll have an understanding of metals and how they react under duress - you’ll be able to troubleshoot relevant issues
  • A determined character, capable of working with limited supervision
  • Success in managing relationships, engaging with stakeholders, prioritising work, and dealing with a variety of teams
  • A confident Microsoft Office user, for data collection and reporting
