Junior Art Director - Hampshire

An exciting position is available for a highly creative Junior/Associate Art Director with true flair and creativity within the studio of a multi award winning creative agency based in Basingstoke that work with major Pharmaceutical & Healthcare clients.

Ideally you’ll have at least 2 years experience as a Creative Designer or Senior Designer within a creative agency and be ready to step up into an Art Director role.

Job Summary
The Junior/Art Director is responsible for idea generation and execution/direction of creative concepts from design through to finished product. Working closely with the Creative Team Leader, senior designers, strategists and the editorial team, they must maintain clients’ marketing strategies and objectives, meeting deadlines for presentation or production. They must also have a good understanding of the Agency’s departmental procedures, such as processes, print production protocols, usage rights of stock images for layout etc, and maintain the high creative expectations of work across the group. The Art Director reports to the Creative Team Leader.

Responsibilities

Creative
• Direct the production of highly creative ideas, concepts and high quality graphic design work for client presentation
• Ensure that work is produced accurately, on-budget and on-time
• Offer advice and creative art direction to other teams throughout the company
• Produce graphic design work through to artwork for print if required

Briefing and communication
• Take part in briefing meetings
• Read and digest creative briefing documents
• Fully understand the target audience and business that the project/campaign is to be created for
• Brief other members of the creative team when required
• Keep the account team and Creative Team Leader regularly up-to-date on projects - informing them of any queries or problems as soon as possible
• Organise their own time and arrange meetings as projects and schedules require

Leadership
• Maintain the highest level of creative output
• Fuel creative innovation
• Be up-to-date with, and have an interest in, social media and digital, cultural trends and fashions and the current trends in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry
• Be aware of new techniques and developments in the design and artwork field (such as new features/techniques in Photoshop software)
• Support future creative planning and progress
• Strive to produce award-winning creative

External
• Apply design and layout skills as required to fulfil the requirements and objectives of the creative artwork brief across all channels and executions
• Adhere to the Agency’s systems at all times and complete job bags/sheets correctly
• Adhere to relevant client and product brand and legal guidelines
• Save work in the required manner/format and maintain 'good housekeeping’ with your own working files and computer system
• Promptly notify the Creative Team Leader of any problems beyond your control
• Be available to help out in other capacities within studio if necessary, such as artworking and quality control checks

Relationship Management
• Communicate with team members at all times regarding deadlines, revisions, quality control and new work
• Collaborate with the team in a productive manner
• Collaborate with, and take direction from, the Creative Team Leader

Business Management
• Be deadline-focussed and organised
• Make sound, timely decisions regarding any need to change work in progress and report them to supervisor; solve problems within areas of direct responsibility
• Benefit from working with colleagues and suppliers, including illustrators, photographers, retouchers, digital team, editorial department and account team members to ensure the highest quality product
