Java Developer

Avanti is working with a long-established UK software business based in Blackburn who is looking for a Software Developer to join its growing development team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Java Developer who enjoys solving technical problems, modernising systems and contributing ideas within a collaborative engineering environment.

The company develops specialist software used within manufacturing and industrial environments and is currently going through a major technology modernisation programme. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving existing Java applications while also contributing to future-facing projects involving APIs, integrations and modern development practices.

This role would suit someone who enjoys:

• Improving and modernising legacy systems
• Backend development and APIs
• Bringing ideas and technical improvements to a team
• Learning and developing alongside evolving technologies

The Role

You’ll be involved across the full software development lifecycle, including:

• Developing and maintaining Java applications
• Supporting migration towards newer Java versions
• Enhancing and modernising existing systems
• Building REST APIs and integrations
• Troubleshooting and debugging software issues
• Contributing to testing and code quality improvements
• Working closely with support teams and project staff
• Helping improve development standards, tooling and processes
