Interim Director of Construction Project Delivery - Full Site Management

Location: Hampshire

Day Rate: Negotiable

Duration: Initial 3/6 Months

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Interim Director of Project Delivery to oversee and ensure the successful execution of development projects within the construction sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction management, project delivery, and leadership. This interim position offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on project outcomes and organisational success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of development projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Lead project teams to meet allocated budgets and financial plans while upholding quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Prioritise and ensure the safety of all project stakeholders.
  • Manage the Profit and Loss (P&L) of the Main Contractor business unit.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management and the Board on project progress and significant deviations.
  • Engage immediately with ongoing projects, demonstrating swift acclimatisation and proactive problem-solving.
  • Supervise project planning, design, contractual commercial matters, construction activities, and project closeout.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate seamless project execution.

Accountabilities

  • Lead engagements with trade contractors and oversee project delivery.
  • Formulate and present detailed project programs.
  • Prepare project budgets, cost plans, and report on expenditure.
  • Manage technical design teams and procurement processes.
  • Assess project performance against established objectives, including program adherence, budget management, quality assurance, and health & safety compliance.
  • Supervise in-house and external project teams to ensure quality and safety.

Strategic Management

  • Play an integral role in achieving long-term organisational goals through successful project delivery, directly impacting business success and reputation.
  • Employ a hands-on, detail-oriented, and commercially astute leadership style to foster collaboration, innovation, and outcome-driven performance.
  • Utilise excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Special Projects Involvement:
  • Lead the strategic transition away from site-based activities to factory-based (or similar) methodologies to enhance project quality, speed, and cost-effectiveness.

Essential Experience

  • University degree, preferably in engineering, construction management, or project management.
  • Experience in managing construction projects of scale and complexity (£15m to £30m).
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering projects within budget, schedule, and quality parameters.
