HR Officer

Type: 12 month FTC
Salary: £28,600 - £31,800
Location: Newcastle City Centre

Our Professional Services client, a Top 10 Sunday Times Best Companies to work for, is looking for an experienced HR Advisor/ Officer to join their Newcastle city centre offices on an interim basis. Supporting the northern region, comprising of 1000 employees, you will offer a true generalist support function to managers within your network. You must have experience of handling your own ER casework and be able to manipulate management information data using Excel spreadsheets. This role will also involve some project work including the role out and analysis of their people engagement survey.

The opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a team of HR Business Consultants, responsible for providing a commercial and professional HR service to the financial services business in the UK.

Your key responsibilities

* Provide generalist and operational support to your dedicated client group. This will include the provision of generalist support on specific operational issues (e.g. performance management and development process, salary review, employee relations issues, redundancy programmes)
* Support your managers in management of capability, disciplinary and grievance issues
* Act as co-ordination point to complete activities which support the delivery of key Talent Team objectives such as performance management and development review and salary review.
* Throughout salary planning, supporting in any analysis required
* Act as a specific HR contact, taking responsibility for analysing problems and providing accurate and timely advice and solutions on an independent basis, calling for advice when necessary.
* Participate in various UK Talent Team projects as requested, in areas such as Diversity & Inclusiveness, Employee Engagement and Communications.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of UK Talent Team practices.
* Management reporting and data validation:
o Act as specific point of contact to coordinate and complete reporting and analysis for Talent Team as required
o Responsible for updating and maintaining any reports and records associated with employee relations.
o Responsible for data validation on specific operational issues
o Responsible for preparation of and analysis of the Global People Survey and any other ad-hoc people related surveys.

Skills and attributes for success.
* A highly skilled, knowledgeable, energetic HR professional
* Hands on experience of dealing with capability, disciplinary and grievance
* Up to date working knowledge of UK Employment Law and employee relations procedures, redundancies etc.
* Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
* Interest in broader HR activities, keen to learn, inquisitive about our business and challenges

To qualify for the role you must have

* Previous experience of working in an HR environment at HR Advisor Level, involved in core generalist activities, including running end to end capability/ disciplinary and grievance procedures
* Excellent Excel skills (e.g. v-look ups, pivot tables, etc.) to analyse and manipulate large data files and validate large amounts of data.
* Up to date working knowledge of UK Employment Law and employee relations procedures, redundancies etc.
* Strong influencing and negotiation skills, as well as the confidence to deal, professionally and assertively, with senior business clients either verbally or in writing when providing advice

Ideally, you'll also have

* Evidence of being able to prioritise effectively, juggling multiple tasks at times of competing demands on workload and deliverables, while being able to maintain a strong focus and attention to detail at all time
* Microsoft Office suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
* Certificate or Diploma in Personnel Management (CIPD) either partial or full completion or desire to work towards this in future - desirable
