The Head of IT will be responsible for the IT strategy and oversee the development, implementation, and use of technology throughoutEurope, working closely with key stakeholders to assess and address user needs with the context of their business environment.

Responsible for the full range of information systems and telecommunications activities, including sourcing and maintaining technology infrastructure, determining user requirements, recommending practical solutions, and leading company-wide efforts to improve the effective use of technology.

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of a European information technology strategy. Overseeing / devising and establishing IT strategies set by Upper management.

Manage the Bank’s information security and technology setup including Policies, Strategy, Spend, system and functionality upgrades, hardware and software infrastructure, Vendors, Disaster Recovery, and project implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate in the development of a short and long-term IT strategy and policy

  • Project Management: Development, planning and implementation

  • Direct, facilitate and/ or provide development of strategic and tactical planning. Includes requirements for all software upgrades/ improvements and making sure all hardware is up to minimum required standards

  • Development and implementation of security policies and procedures

  • Plan, test and maintain Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan and site for the HBL UK group

  • Help develop and manage budget for technology, services, and personnel

  • Supervision of all daily and scheduled activities

  • Vendor management including finding appropriate vendors for business’s technology needs and ensuring value for money in vendor selection and in support/ maintenance contracts

  • Database maintenance and development. Developing suitable MI from SQL database

  • Implement new technologies that lead to long terms cost and time savings

  • Manage licensing agreements to ensure software is supported and security upgrades/ patches are applied in a timely manner

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, software applications, and peripherals

  • Provide expertise and support during systems upgrades, installations, and conversions and file maintenance

  • Oversee systems development and enhancement, and the integration of new systems with existing systems

  • Work with IT staff to develop strategies and plans to enhance client services, improve user effectiveness, and foster innovation

  • Communicate regularly with executive management and all users of information services and systems

  • Develop the IT staff to dynamically meet the changing needs of users, groups and offices; new projects and technologies; and varying staff strengths

  • Manage the development and implementation of group wide information security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security

  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols and guidance to IT staff and to end-users

  • Ensure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system and user manuals, license agreements, and documentation of modifications and upgrades

  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services

  • Keep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements

  • Manage financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review

  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, data protection, purchasing, information security and service provision

  • Manage servers, security solutions, network hardware and equipment

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
  • Suitable qualifications in Project Management, Banking procedures and practice would be an added advantage.

  • At least 15 years of experience within the technology space preferably in a banking environment with expertise on Misys Equation.
  • Prior experience of managing teams in a diverse range of technology roles would be beneficial.

  • Ability to present to Senior Managers/ Board on progress of technology initiatives.

  • Good networking and people skills to interact with colleagues and team members and wield influence without having direct authority over a wide variety of stakeholders.

  • Excellent negotiation skills to get the best deal from software and hardware vendors.

  • Good network of contacts and knowledge of latest innovations in the Fintech space.

  • Thorough understanding of Information Security and data protection (GDPR) best practice.

  • Leadership capabilities to motivate the IT team and keep morale high.
