The Role:

We are seeking a full-time permanent Grounds person to join our Grounds team working on our £60 million campus set in 80 acres in Prestbury, Cheshire. The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm with an hour's unpaid lunch break (lunch is provided as a staff benefit during term-time). In addition, the post holder will be required to work reasonable additional hours as necessary, as the demands of the job require. The role is to start as soon as possible.

The salary for this post will reflect the responsibilities involved and will be commensurate with the experience of the appointed candidate. This is a full-time, year-round post.

Candidate Requirements:

  • We are looking for a grounds person with a minimum of 2 years-experience within the industry or similar to help maintain an 80-acre site
  • PA1/PA2 license would be beneficial although not essential. NVQ 2 Amenity and horticulture or equivalent is preferred
  • Good understanding of machinery and maintenance is preferred. In house training will be provided
  • Must have a flexible approach to the variety of jobs we perform
  • Can work well within a team and individually unsupervised from instruction of the Head Grounds person
  • Full clean drivers licence

Main Responsibilities:

The role would be to work alongside a small grounds team on the campus and jobs include:

  • Tractor/gang mowing
  • Ride on mowing including banks mower
  • Pedestrian mowing
  • General gardening duties
  • Pitch marking and set up of variety of sports
  • Using a variety of hand tools such as strimmers, hedge cutters, backpack blowers and chainsaws (license would be preferred but not essential)
