Financial Controller

Financial Controller, start-up, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, £50,000 - £60,000p/a

I am exclusively recruiting a Financial Controller for a rapidly growing tech start-up in Nottingham. The company currently has c30 employees with a turnover of £5m and this is projected to rise to £10m in the next 18 months. Due to this rapid expansion they are looking to appoint their first Financial Controller to be based at the Head Office in Nottingham.

You will report directly to the Chief Executive and work very closely with their Private Investors to support the growth of the business. As this is a newly created appointment it is expected you will be comfortable in all aspects of managing a finance function from running the weekly payroll to attending strategic board meetings. You will also take ownership of identifying a suitable accounts package and implementing this.

Brief overview of responsibilities:

  • Management accounts preparation / pack and associated narrative
  • R&D Tax Credit calculation and report
  • Group insurance review / policies
  • Budgeting process
  • Board Meetings
  • General ad-hoc financial / strategic advice

To be considered for this unique opportunity you must be fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA and be comfortable in a very hands-on finance role and ideally have experience in a start-up environment. The long term goal is for this individual to progress to Finance Director and build a team around them.
