Financial Accountant - Permanent, 45-50K (London)

On behalf of a UK Charity, we're recruiting a Financial Accountant to play an important role in accounting and reporting for the organisation's £800M investment portfolio and £25M annual charitable spending activities. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant will have wide exposure to charity, investment and property accounting and will work closely with experts in all business units as well as external professional advisers.

Main Duties:

  • Oversee and administer the organisation's day-to-day finance functions
  • Responsible for ensuring the Chart of Accounts is complete, accurate, reconciled and up-to-date for all internal and external reporting and statutory deadlines
  • Prepare financial information, variance analysis and KPI's to support business decisions
  • Support the team in producing high-quality management reporting
  • Oversee payment runs, ensure all transactions are inputted onto the finance system with correct coding and details
  • Prepare monthly financial accounts to trial balance, including full ownership on month-end
  • Balance sheet maintenance and controls
  • Monthly asset pricing and uploading journals
  • Upload monthly property transactions to finance system and preparing KPI reports
  • Treasury and Cash management
  • Prepare draft property and financial investments reporting including MI; Property Manager KPI reports; Detailed financial information for properties; Investment allocation reports; Investment performance analysis; Variance analysis; Portfolio movement reports.
  • Annual Gift Aid claims
  • Quarterly VAT return reconciliations
  • Assisting with internal and external audits

Person Specification:

  • Finalist or Qualified CCAB
  • Strong academic record (2:1 degree or higher) with a numerical or scientific background
  • Experience in property accounting, investment accounting
  • Experience in charity accounting
  • MI reporting and treasury management
  • Financial Accounting experience gained from a small or medium sized organisation
  • Proven record of creating and developing Excel spreadsheets to perform new tasks and improve efficiency
  • Proven record of devising new processes and improving existing processes
