Salary - £24,000+
The candidate must have full membership of AAT or equivalent qualifications may be considered.
Budget Setting - Assist the Operational Management Accountants (OMA) in the profiling of all budgets including grants, in accordance with the budget-setting timetable and calculate all in year virements. This will involve analysing financial data to determine trends and future year commitments and the preparation of all budget uploads.
Budget Monitoring –
-Identify and query all current month and year-to-date non-pay variances and complete the variance report. In liaison with spending departments, provide a projected outturn and explanations to the OMA for interpretation and inclusion in the budget manager commentary.
-Calculate all accruals and prepayments and ensure they are captured on a monthly and year-end basis automated through either iProcurement or manual journal.
-Oversee the work of the Finance Assistant ensuring that grant drawdown is completed and that grants have a nil effect on revenue monitoring. Also, ensure that all material -invalid codings are corrected.
-Gather, analyse and reconcile pay data to pay budgets. Identify current month and year-to-date variances, seek explanations through Oracle HR where possible and complete the variance report. Provide explanations and data to the OMA for interpretation and inclusion in the budget manager’s commentary.
-Responsible for ensuring that all internal recharges and trading accounts are administered in an accurate, timely and effective manner.
Specialist Functions - Control and co-ordinate all allocated specialist functions which could include Mutual Aid and Regional Working ensuring that costs are accurately coded, recorded and monitored, charges are calculated accurately and income is collected promptly.
External Funding - Assist project managers in the preparation of bids for external funding and prepare claims for reimbursement and submission to funding bodies, ensuring that a clear audit trail of all external funding records is maintained. Liaise with external bodies in respect of grant audits and any other financial matters.
Ad Hoc - Deal with ad hoc requests for financial data which will include investigation, analysis and costing exercises and Freedom of Information requests. Provide financial advice and information as appropriate.
