About You

  • Professional qualification, ideally CIMA qualified and experienced in working with small/medium companies
  • Experienced in production of management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Demonstrate success in delivering finance to non-finance stakeholders
  • Ideally have experience of using Sage 200
  • Line management experience
  • A self-starter who is pro-active, able to manage own workload and can set and achieve goals
  • Delivering results in tight time scales
  • A team player with a flexible approach and a willingness to learn
  • High standard of numeracy, accuracy with attention to detail
  • Problem solving ability
  • Strong organisational & time management skills
  • Work under pressure and to tight deadlines in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Highly motivated and ambitious.
  • Good inter-personal skills, able to work with people of all levels; including Directors
  • Excellent excel skills (including pivot tables and simple formula’s) required

About the Role

  • Responsibility for issuing Management Accounts to strict deadlines

o Draft P&L issued to Director of Finance on 3rd working day following month end

o Once agreed, sent to wider Board & questions fended by Finance Manager

o Final management accounts & KPI’s distributed two weeks later

o Responsibility for all Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • Managing finance team (MA’s, payroll, cashbook, SL & PL) both directly & indirectly

o Team of 4 direct reports

o Ensuring team & individual objectives are met

o Motivation & progression of team members

o 1-2-1’s & PDPs for direct reports

o Ensuring deadlines are met to enable tight churn of MA’s

  • GP, EBITDA & WIP reporting on a weekly basis
  • Rolling forecasting for each quarter based on actual performance
  • Responsibility for the maintenance & improvements of the GP reporting mechanisms
  • Timely reconciliation of all GP & control accounts
  • Accurate reporting of KPI’s
  • Review & approval of payroll & supplier payment runs
  • VAT returns & Corporation tax QIP calculations
  • R&D investigation & reporting for submission to HMRC
  • Assisting with Year End Audit and Statutory Accounts including liaising with external auditors
  • Upgrading/improving systems, procedures and controls as appropriate
  • Providing ad-hoc reporting as and when requested
  • Build strong relations with internal customers to ensure excellent customer service
