• Annual Salary: £70,000-£75,000 plus benefits

Our client a leading energy trading firm, are seeking an Expert Accountant to ensure the correct accounting treatment and posting of business transactions in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The role involves timely and accurate reporting, being the primary contact for auditors, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and guidelines.

Day to Day of the role:

• Ensure timely creation and issuing of daily intercompany invoices.
• Correct posting of monthly invoices, accruals, and provisions.
• Prepare and file reportings to local authorities.
• Reconcile mark to market postings for open derivatives with the operative trading system.
• Conduct monthly foreign exchange valuation in SAP.
• Reconcile balances between SAP, Endur, and SAP-MM.
• Reconcile oil and product storage quantities and values, ensuring correct accounting treatment.
• Calculate and prepare correct postings for revenue netting and balance sheet presentation according to IFRS 15.
• Report to Group consolidation department for intercompany reconciliation, balance sheet, income statement, taxes, and IFRS notes & disclosures.
• Serve as the first point of contact for all trading accounting, material management, and crude oil invoicing related enquiries.
• Administer operative interfaces into and out of SAP FI/CO and MM.
• Coordinate with the shared service centre for all transactional services provided.
• Prepare financial statements according to local GAAP with external consultants.
• Act as the primary point of contact for auditors during all IFRS and local GAAP audits.
• Participate autonomously in special projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• University bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• More than 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in Trading Accounting or Middle Office environment with a good understanding of the oil and gas value chain, derivative trading instruments, relevant IFRS accounting standards,
• Experience with ETRM systems including SAP.
• Meticulous attention to detail, excellent Excel and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
• Affinity to numbers with the ability to work reliably and accurately under tight deadlines.
