Job Title: Embedded (Ada) Software Engineer

Salary: up to circa £60,000 depending on experience 

Location: Bristol (we may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

As an Embedded (Ada) Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing embedded, real-time software for missile computers on current missile systems and future evolutions. Using the Ada language, you will be responsible for the full software lifecycle, from requirements definition and analysis to software release.

You will have the opportunity to work with advanced technologies, including Simulink algorithms, a real-time operating system (RTOS), and firmware. You will also gain exposure to real-time Operating Systems and ARM-based processing platforms.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Significant experience in embedded software development with Ada or C, C++

  • Experience with model-based development using UML tools (such as IBM's Rhapsody) or Matlab/Simulink

  • Familiarity with real-time Operating Systems and ARM-based processing platforms

  • Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55 & DO178B and restricted coding standards such as MISRA / SPARK
