Digital Performance Marketing Manager - Daily Mail

Purpose of Role

  • Be the digital performance lead for Mail Newspapers eCommerce propositions (Mail Travel, Mail Shop, Mail Finance, Mail Wines, You Beauty Box); plus newspaper circulation driving activity for the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday; subscription driving for Mail Plus, the digital newspaper
  • Managing significant online media budget across PPC, Display, Affiliate and SEO activity, delivering value and ROI through execution of BAU, campaign and channel activity
  • Day to day management and motivation of external agency
  • Develop a relentless test and learn attitude to performance marketing
  • Define structure and resource to deliver long term revenue and profit growth

Key Accountabilities

Budgeting

  • Work with Senior Marketing Manager to drive revenue and profit targets across Mail Newspaper performance marketing channels
  • Input into forecasting process and delivery of forecasting - yearly/quarterly/monthly figures
  • Manage agency POs, agency charges and payment

Digital campaign activity

  • Manage campaigns to deliver according to CPS targets
  • Drive exceptional optimization of our PPC, SEO, Affliate and Display activity ensuring greatest ROI for these channels
  • Regular review of PPC campaigns at a granular level
  • Analyse and report the results of all marketing activity to ensure learning’s are captured and communicated to inform future on and offline marketing plans.
  • Brief online collateral as required (banners, MPUs etc) via comms team/internal creative team as required
  • Suggest new digital campaigns in opportunity areas to aid revenue growth
  • Harness relationships within wider marketing team (creative, comms, crm, product managers) to ensure consistency of message and joined-up communications plan

Agency Management

  • Be key day to day contact, motivate and manage agency for PPC, display, paid social
  • Work with Senior Marketing Manager to brief agency on upcoming campaigns ensuring plans in place for activity to run, and liaise with key stakeholders for sign off
  • Regularly review agency resourcing, challenging their accountability and ability to hit objectives

Affiliates

  • Lead set up and drive performance of Affiliates - a new channel for the eCommerce business

Reporting, Analytics & technical integration

  • Oversee weekly management reporting on websites’ performance for all Mail Newspaper verticals digital channels, as well as respond to ad hoc data requests
  • Set-up new reporting and look to ways to improve reporting efficiency
  • Ensure all website / online reports provide accurate and relevant information required to manage the business
  • Use analysis to aid strategic decision-making and adapt digital marketing approach accordingly
  • Solely responsible for ensuring all tech requirement/pixels are correctly with agency for all brand verticals

  • Have an entrepreneurial approach to our e-commerce business, being dynamic and creative to maximise impact to support the growth of the department

  • Constantly horizon-scanning for the latest techniques and platforms to better improve digital marketing performance

Key skills and experience:

  • Expert in search - paid and organic, display and retargeting
  • Proven ability to optimize media agency relationships
  • Experience of media planning across broad online mix
  • Strong knowledge of key Google Analytics features - knowledge of Adobe Analytics
  • Diplomatic
  • Experience of working in e-commerce environment, and directly managing Google adwords in a retail, travel or agency environment
  • A disciplined, ambitious and well organized individual who is also flexible
