We have an exceptional job opportunity for an experienced underwriter to join a leading legal expenses insurance (LEI) business based in beautiful offices in Guildford. We are honoured to recruit exclusively for this position supporting our client to recruit for this position.

The successful applicant will have managed trade associations and affinity partners and experience placing business through delegated schemes. Commercial legal expenses insurance would be highly attractive however full product training will be provided

Your duties will include:

  • Working and developing your skills in a niche but vital section of the insurance sector, providing solutions to help leading UK insurance brokers and law firms ensure they are fully enabled to provide clients the highest quality access to justice.

  • Focusing on managing and growing existing delegated authority schemes, and acquiring and developing new business through referrals and affinity partners assisting with underwriting and decision-making.

You will be required to master and implement underwriting guidelines and demonstrate a detailed understanding of legal expenses risk exposure and appetite.

This role would suit someone with strong relationship skills, who is used to working independently, with a good knowledge of the insurance market and a proven ability to meet agreed objectives, deal effectively with customers and partners, and operate well within the limits of stipulated procedure and authority. Ideally, you will have 3-4 years of business development experience in a broker environment, we are open to considering experience from all lines of insurance.

The company believes in developing its people, and fully supporting - and providing - continual professional training and development relevant to the role. This includes payment and support towards CII and CILEx qualifications, study, and exam leave.

In return, our client is offering a competitive salary of circa £35k and a benefits package (on completion of the probationary period) including generous holiday allocation, pension contribution, and private medical insurance. Hybrid working after the initial training and induction period, Mondays and Fridays working from home and a free parking space will be provided to you within a 15-minute walk from their beautiful offices based in central Guildford.

Hours of work Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
