Role Summary

Underwriting Commercial Combined risks under broad supervision, working within limited authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review applications and financial requirements for risks requiring technical underwriting skillsand determine acceptability of risk.
  • Prepare quotations and answer questions from Brokers and internal / external contacts.
  • Prepare written communication on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations.
  • Analyse quality, quantity and profitability of risks underwritten, and prepare reports for management review.
  • Assist in marketing products and services through the brokerage community, and make field visits.
  • Develop and maintain positive Broker relationships.
  • Work with Senior Underwriters and management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.

Key Requirements

  • Experience gained in either a Commercial Combined or Professional Indemnity Underwriting role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
