Our client have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join our client's Legal team based at their Head Office in Gatwick. This role will report directly to the Head of General Counsel & Legal services and will see you work as a true strategic partner supporting some of their fantastic global businesses from a legal perspective. This role will give you the opportunity to really flex both their commercial and leadership skills by providing guidance to the Business Units (BU) you support, ensuring a best in class legal service is achieved.

What can you expect?
Ultimately, you will act as a business partner who proactively leads on all legal matters within one or more of their Business Units (BU). You will play a pivotal role in shaping the implementation of their legal strategy whilst providing tactical support that ensures the business area(s) you support are able to achieve their objectives. You will provide proactive, solution oriented, strategic advice on a wide range of non-contentious and contentious issues having regard to laws and regulations whilst working within their policies and best practice guidelines. You will be expected to identify risk factors to safeguard interests and support compliance and business integrity.
The team faces a host of commercial legal issues, and this role involves working on both stand-alone matters as well as projects, which may encompass the wider group. You will be involved in liaising with a range of key, internal and externals stakeholders where building trusted, long-term relationships is fundamental to success.
Who are they looking for?
They are looking for a Commercial Lawyer who is coming from either an in-house role or from private practice; either way, they are expecting great commercial acumen and strong communication and collaboration skills, together with a practical and pragmatic approach. You will be happy to work independently and proactively, and will have an understanding of the competitive arena in which they work. You will be able to demonstrate a range of post-qualification experience to perform in this role, but they are open to considering applications from anyone who can demonstrate the right approach and experience to really support their ambition of being a world class legal function.
It is essential that you are qualified lawyer ideally with a minimum of 4-5PQE, and have a good academic background. Knowledge of at least some of the following areas of law is desirable - contract law, competition law, unfair competition law, data protection law, and IP law. Lastly, you will be passionate about performing well for their client groups, and be motivated to succeed in everything you do.
