Commercial Combined Underwriter

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our clients Commercial Team as a Commercial Combined Underwriter.  They are looking for a candidate who enjoys working within a team environment, who is hard-working and will be committed to achieving the financial business plan. The perfect candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated, keen to excel and develop their career.

This is a hybrid role - A mix of working from the Manchester office, along with the flexibility of working from home too.

The role: 

  • Profitably underwrite Commercial Combined on a case-by-case basis, within appetite and underwriting criteria.
  • Underwrite within company strategy and authority limits and refer all cases outside of strategy or individual limits.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with colleagues and brokers as well as identifying new opportunities within our network.
  • Attend training, review meetings and social events when required.
  • Maintain, and endeavour to exceed, agreed service levels to both internal and external customers.
  • Working closely with senior underwriters and supporting those more junior.
  • Develop and maintain an up to date knowledge of the commercial underwriting and broking market.

Your skills and experience:

  • Strong trading skills with experience in developing broker accounts to achieve profitable growth.
  • Underwriting knowledge, specifically with previous experience in Commercial Combined.
  • Motivated, driven and adapts to change, positively displaying a can do attitude.
  • Willingly provides help and support to others and has the ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Passionate about own development within the insurance industry.
  • To assess and analyse data accurately and effectively.
  • The ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Work independently but also as part of a team to deliver common goals.
  • The ability to demonstrate meeting & exceeding personal and team objectives.
  • An awareness of the market and legal/industry developments.
