 Civilian Investigator

  • Location: Multiple locations across London (office based with some hybrid working opportunities)
  • Job Type: 2-year FTC. 
  • Renumeration: These roles are paying £37,289.

We are seeking 20+ Civilian Investigators to join the Metropolitan Police. This role is crucial for assisting our Reactive Investigation Teams and is at the heart of the Commissioner’s plan to restore public trust and confidence. We are looking for experienced investigators with high integrity, skilled in statement taking, and well-versed in disclosure requirements.

Day to Day activities of the role:

  • Take statements, collect and review CCTV, and conduct other investigative tasks as tasked by a DS.
  • Work from a Police Station in Central London on an ‘Actions’ basis.
  • Opportunity for remote working once fully integrated into the role.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous criminal investigative experience.
  • Recent experience of working in a public protection environment.
  • Flexible attitude to work with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Sound report writing and written communication skills.
  • IT literacy with a good command of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of Police Conduct Regulations, Police Reform Act, Police (Complaints and Misconduct) Regulations, and Police (Performance) Regulations.

Desirable Criteria:

  • PIP2 accredited criminal investigators or equivalent
  • Experience in dealing with complaints and misconduct.
  • Experience in safeguarding, intelligence background.
  • SOIT Training.
  • Sapphire training or case work experience.
  • Experience working on complex investigations.
  • Essential – Investigative experience with a UK Police service or similar (UKBA, NCA) including case file preparation for the CPS.
  • Desirable- PIP2 trained, investigative experience within a Public Protection environment (Domestic Abuse, Child Protection, Sexual offences)
