Business Development Manager (B2B membership sales)

FJWilson Talent Services is delighted to be engaged by the IoIC to identify talent for a permanent, full-time 'Membership Development Manager' vacancy.

The basic salary (up to a £36,000 pay award) will be enhanced by an uncapped commission scheme. Realistic OTE in Year 1 of the role will be early to mid £40,000s, more for a very strong performer!

The post holder will report to the Chief Executive to support the Institute in their next phase of growth.

Overview of the IoIC

Established for 70 years, the Institute of Internal Communication ('IoIC’) is the only independent professional body in the UK solely dedicated to internal communication.

A recent IoIC survey showed that there are now more than 45,000 people working in internal communications in the private sector alone.

Membership of the IoIC provides access to leading professional development programmes, exclusive content and networking events to advance skills and further careers.

IoIC qualifications range from from level 4 to 7 (i.e masters) accredited by Solent University, and there are 30 training courses on offer to enhance professional development

Overview of the role

This is a sales post, and will combine telesales with face to face business development with large organisations.

The post will be based out of IoIC’s office in Milton Keynes 2 days a week, with the post holder then visiting clients and/or working from home for the remaining time.

You will be concentrating on generating new business for group membership from large corporations, and generating income from new sponsorship partners.

The initial focus for group membership will be on the FTSE 100, leveraging IoIC’s current FTSE case studies.

You will be supported going out on key meetings by the Chief Executive, so this is also a great personal development opportunity.

Alongside selling in the key benefits of membership to organisations you will help design bespoke packages which could span: professional development, events, sponsorship and awards.

You will be also responsible for managing accounts and have the ability to build on relationships, keep them informed and ensure annual renewals.

You will also be passed ALL incoming sales enquiries, of which there are steady flow on a weekly basis.

We are looking for candidates are well suited to working for a small organisation and team, and who have:

  • Experience of selling to large organisations
  • Evidence of being a great 'hunter’ and experienced in new business development
  • Experience in account management
  • Experience in cross selling and creating high value sales packages
  • Experience developing long term relationships, together with negotiating with key senior level decision makers
  • Ability to work to your own targets
