Joining the IT Portfolio Management team as an IT Business Analyst you will be leading assigned business analysis engagements on UKI IT projects and programmes via the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of business functions, processes and systems that would be impacted by the particular solution being implemented. You will manage the requirements’ development process through the elicitation, analysis, specification and verification of multiple levels of requirements (business, stakeholder, solution). You will be working on complex, multi-functional projects and programmes, which will require agility of the mind and practical experience and expertise of managing conflicting agendas and priorities. Typically you will supervise and guide work of other Business Analysts within complex multi-year programme assignments. You will be providing ad hoc quality assurance and guidance to Business Analysts assigned to projects in your portfolio. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert on various business, systems, processes and other areas of knowledge essential to delivery of projects within your portfolio. You will be assigned to work on projects in a particular business-aligned portfolio of IT projects. Typically portfolios are aligned with business areas and functions and formed of 15-20 projects with a budget of £5-7M..
Typically projects in a portfolio will be of a high business criticality with multiple systems and business processes interdependencies due the highly inter-connected nature of the TUI business operating model. You will have high visibility and senior executive exposure up to the UK&I Board members and senior business executives. You will be assigned to deliver change for a particular business area or function and will be required to develop a deep understanding of the business strategic agenda, underlining processes and systems and form effective relationships with business/IT stakeholders and colleagues. However due to the highly inter-connected TUI business operating model you will be expected to develop a good knowledge of TUI overall UK&I business model, key systems, processes, underpinning business operational integrity.
What you will be doing
Business Requirements Analysis
•Undertake analysis of the business needs, including TUI internal and market external factors, define problem statements, analyse root causes
•Build the foundation for the development effort by capturing the business context - problem, current state, desired future state, objectives, business needs and impacted user groups
•Elicit requirements and produce comprehensive Business Requirements, Functional and Non-Functional Requirements, User Requirements, System Requirements and Requirements Traceability Matrix, also in Agile development produce Epics and User Stories
•Elicit, validate & document existing business architecture including process, data and organisation models
•Manage requirements through the project lifecycle by establishing and maintaining agreements between the customer and the project team
•Establish traceability of captured requirements to the business vision
•Analyse business needs and decompose them into testable Functional and Non-Functional Requirements
•Ensure that the requirements are specified in a manner suitable for the intended audience and are clear, unambiguous and capable of being implemented and tested
•Categorise requirements into logical groupings to input into solution design
•Facilitate prioritisation of requirements against applicable criteria
•Facilitate definition and interpretation of business rules and requirements for technical solutions
•Establish potential impact of any requested changes to the business , process , systems
•Consistently deliver high-quality analysis
Project Delivery and Assurance
•Provide ad hoc expert guidance and support to Business Analysts (as required), ensuring accurate and comprehensive capture and validation of business requirements, enabling completeness of proposed architectural solutions, thereby reducing potential error and rework due to missed or misunderstood business requirements
What we are looking for
- Measurable track record of providing business analysis input into major change initiatives encompassing at least five years of relevant experience supported by a University Degree
- Proven experience and in depth understanding of relevant areas of expertise (specific to allocated portfolios)
- Proven experience and capability to manage complex projects and programmes covering multiple business areas and inter-dependencies
- Proven experience of requirements elicitation methods including business process modelling (BPM), UML, use cases and prototyping
- Track record of successfully using requirements elicitation and communication techniques including workshop facilitation, documentation analysis, interviewing and brainstorming
- Experience of working within a range of project methodologies; Agile, DSDM, Waterfall and qualified to ISEB or equivalent standard in Business Analysis
- Experience in service-orientated, customer-facing industries (ideally within either the travel, retail, telecoms or banking arenas).
- Demonstrable experience of building consensus around change, influencing multiple IT/Business stakeholders and managing conflicting agendas
