JOB DESCRIPTION

Punchdrunk International is seeking a self-motivated and proactive Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Director with the management of the day to day accounting and financial operations.

JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant Accountant will work closely with the Finance Director to maintain and improve the accounting function within Punchdrunk International. This will require someone with an ability to prioritise their workload, work to deadlines, build strong internal relationships, contribute suggestions to improve processes and maintain internal financial controls.

Role & Responsibilities

The Assistant Accountant will work with a wide variety of internal stakeholders providing a high standard of accounting support while ensuring compliance with the company’s financial policies and processes.

Key Duties will include:

  • Day to day accounting and bookkeeping including managing purchasing and sales ledgers
  • Running the monthly and year end payroll including PAYE/NI submissions, payments to HMRC and pension calculations
  • Preparing invoices and managing aged debtors
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Preparing and posting journals including any prepayments and accruals
  • Reconciling and maintaining Fixed Asset register
  • Preparing the quarterly VAT return
  • Petty cash control
  • Assisting with the year-end audit/ preparation of financial statements
  • Prepare monthly finance reports for various productions and R&D projects
  • Assist the Finance Director in preparing management accounts and other ad hoc financial reports
  • Assist with the maintenance and development of robust finance control processes

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Essential:

  • Qualified or studying towards a professional financial / accountancy qualification
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a finance department
  • Previous working experience with an accounting system
  • Have a flexible approach to changing priorities and calmness under pressure
  • Microsoft Office competent, with advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to deal well with uncertainty and meet changing deadlines
  • You will have strong time management skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with Xero
  • Experience with multiple customer accounts in multiple currencies
  • Experience of working in the Arts sector or a passion for/ knowledge of the Arts, in particular Punchdrunk’s work
