Our client, a highly respected Higher Education establishment based in Glasgow, require an Administrator on a temporary basis. The salary for the position is £9.76 per hour. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm.
A PVG for working with Children issued within the last 12 months is a pre-requisite for this role and applicant must be willing to apply for a scheme update for this.

Main purpose of role:
To provide a comprehensive administrative support service to the Admissions and Student Funding department

  • Undertake assessment of eligibility for student financial support.
  • Provide front line advice and information to students and prospective students regarding admissions and student funding.
  • Respond to and process course applications, including dealing with admissions enquiries and arranging student interviews.
  • Collate all documents in preparation for processing funding applications.
  • Input student funding applications to database and maintain accurate up to date records.
  • Process assessments for student funding and in particular Bursary/EMA and Childcare Support.
  • Process invoices for taxis and alternative travel for students with a disability.
  • Assist with the administration of student support payments.
  • Assist with the payments and the preparation of claims and statistical returns.
  • Monitor and record student attendance records.
  • Maintain both electronic and manual records as required by audit.
  • Promote student funding opportunities to students.
  • Assist with the range of student recruitment activities including course enquiries, administration of initial assessments, distribution of publicity materials, organisation and attendance at internal and external recruitment events.
  • Process applications for college courses, entering data onto the MIS system, producing letters and responding to enquiries related to applications.
  • Arrange appropriate interviews, liaising with Schools, recording outcomes and tracking the progress of applications.
  • Provide applicants and students with joining instructions and assist with induction.
  • Assist with the delivery of pre-entry information and advice to students.
  • Assist with the provision of written procedures for admissions and enrolment.
  • Assist with the production and analysis of data relating to students recruitment, including statistical information on student applications.

Key Skills and Requirements:
  • 2 years relevant experience gained in a similar role ideally in a Higher Education establishment
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office especially Word and Excel and Databases
  • Experience of Higher Education IT systems is advantageous
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to work flexibly and effectively under pressure in a very busy environment
  • Professional and discrete approach, used to dealing with confidential information
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
