The main purpose of this role is cover the overall performance of the actuarial department. It is also to provide financial reporting, analysis & associated investigations in timely manner as well as accurate.

General Accountabilities:

  • Follow guidance and established processes to contribute towards initiating, planning, process control, production, reconciliation, analysis, documentation, audit and reporting of all actuarial outputs, including IFRS, Earnings at Risk LICAT, Solvency II, PRA, FCA, FCR and Embedded Value results, Financial Plan and With-Profits and experience investigations in line with business deadlines or for ad hoc requests
  • Follow guidance and established processes to contribute towards ensuring that appropriate methodologies are used in the production of these outputs through the conduct of reviews
  • Follow guidance and established procedures to contribute towards continually improving actuarial processes and models and keep them properly documented and controlled
  • To study for, sit and pass the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries exams
  • To take into account the company’s Treating Customers Fairly Guiding Principles to ensure a positive outcome for customers at all times

Risk Management Accountabilities:

  • To have day to day responsibility for the ownership and/ or management of those risks as delegated by your line manager, or which occur in the course of your duties. To escalate risks as necessary to ensure the appropriate management action is taken and that risks do not fall outside of any pre-defined tolerances
  • Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements in carrying out your duties and when identifying and managing risks within your area, including all applicable Compliance and Financial Crime Risks

Regulatory Accountabilities (FCA, PRA or other regulatory body):

  • Member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or similar body)


  • A 2:1 or equivalent honours degree in a subject with a significant mathematical or statistical content (Desirable)
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills (Essential)
  • Experience of using Prophet (Desirable)
