It is currently seeking a 2+ years’ PQE contentious and non-contentious Construction Solicitor to join the ever-expanding team.   Experience of advising on and drafting amendments to standard form construction contracts (JCT, NEC), collateral warranties, bonds and guarantees is essential, whether advising public or private sector developers, contractors or consultants. Moreover, experience of reviewing and advising on consultants’ appointments (both standard form and bespoke), collateral warranties and deeds of novation and an ability to draft and review development agreements, licences for alterations and pre-let agreements with works obligations. The department also provides advice on issues such as delay, loss and expense, defects and contract variations. This is an additional role due to an increase in the company's growth/work levels. Role Description Our client is looking for a Solicitor with 2-3 years experience to join their construction team based in Reading. Reporting into the Head of Construction you will be responsible for handling a diverse range of tasks related to Construction and Dispute Resolution law. Your responsibilities will involve working on both contentious and non- contentious matters. As an organisation our client operates a hybrid working pattern and therefore you will be required to attend to the office in Reading 2 days each week. Responsibilities Manage and execute legal documentation and contracts for diverse construction projects.Oversee the daily management of files under supervision.Provide specialised advice on both non-contentious and contentious construction issues.Assist in dispute resolution and negotiation as required.Keep abreast of developments in construction law and regulations.Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team.Conduct legal research.Contribute to the growth of the Construction practice, including identifying growth opportunities and marketing the team's services. Experience/ Attributes required 2+ years PQE working within dispute resolution/ construction law.Experience working on both contentious and non-contentious construction projects.Knowledge of major standard form contracts, particularly JCT and NEC and experience of drafting and negotiating bespoke amendmentsAbility to draft and review warranties, bonds, guarantees, consultant's appointments, novations, reliance letters.Ability review construction provisions in project and development agreements.Experience of adjudication and proceedings in the Technology and Construction CourtExperience of advising in relation to construction project issues such as issue of pay less notices, loss and expense claims, extension of time claims and final account disputes.Some experience of professional negligence claims against construction professionals would be desirable but not essential.Ability to work within a team and independently.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsWork effectively as part of a team.Excellent keyboard skills plus good knowledge of Microsoft office softwareAn ability and willingness to take an active role in business development with colleagues is essential.
