We are looking for a qualified teacher who:
*is an excellent classroom practitioner who can make learning fun
*has an excellent understanding of the factors that contribute to effective teaching and learning for children of all abilities
*has knowledge and understanding of the KS2 curriculum including the frameworks for Literacy and Mathematics
*has a good understanding of effective curriculum planning, assessment and target setting methods
*has good organisational skills and can prioritise tasks
*is able successfully to engage children in practical activities, enquiry and problem solving
*has high expectations of children's work, progress and behaviour
*can use resources effectively
*can make the learning environment stimulating and attractive
*can communicate effectively with parents
*can work as part of a team and motivate others
*can manage both indoor and outdoor learning effectively
To teach a full year 6 class and to contribute to the discussion of the school's aims and policies and participate in the implementation of policies, plans, targets and practices.
*Plan and assess pupil's learning using knowledge of school policies, Diocesan schemes of work and National Curriculum requirements.
*To uphold the Christian values and ethos that are central to the school by leading whole school Collective Worship.
Teaching and Learning
To secure and sustain effective teaching of the curriculum for individuals, groups and classes. Develop the quality of teaching, assess pupils' standard and set targets for development.
*Use school policy and National Curriculum requirements to set clear targets for the pupils' development and achievement, and monitor pupils' progress towards those targets.
*Use effective teaching and learning strategies to communicate clear learning objectives and expectations including, where appropriate, in relation to english, maths and other core targets;
*Recognise the standard that a pupil is working towards and make accurate assessments against National Curriculum Standards.
*Plan effectively to ensure that pupils can meet their potential, notwithstanding differences of race and gender, and taking account of the needs of pupils from their starting points, making use of relevant information and specialist help where available;
*Meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and disabilities, in collaboration with the SENDCO and make an appropriate contribution to the preparation, implementation, monitoring and review of Individual Pathway Plans;

To be eligible for this Year 6 position you must hold a recognised teaching qualification and QTS and have had similar experience as a year group or phase leader within primary school.
