Are you looking for a new role that gives you lots of variety, the ability to make a real difference working with 13–19-year-olds some of whom may be convicted offenders. The post holder will need to be innovative, Self-Motivated, have good communication skills, be honest, Reliable and have a good sense of humour.

In return, you will get a salary of up to £36,500 and if you successfully pass your probation this will go up to £39,500, plus lots of opportunities for personal development in a variety of areas. Absence through sickness will be paid commensurate to the sickness policy. There will be 11 weeks paid days holiday per annum all taken out of term time plus all public holidays with entitlement calculated on length of service worked on a pro rata basis in the event of leaving the employment. The client offers the stakeholder pension scheme upon successful completion of the probationary period – contributing an additional 5% of salary to that matched by the post holder.

The Role:

To supervise and instruct groups of young people, aged 13-19 years old, some of whom may be convicted offenders, in tasks determined by the General Manager/Workshop Manager. Tasks may include working with disadvantaged members of the community, repair, and maintenance on a variety of vehicles such as bicycles, motorcycles, karts, cars minibuses and vans, metal fabrication including oxyacetylene, mig and plasma welding, general workshop duties including maintenance, painting and decorating, small scale building works and cleaning. Evaluation: collection of data from students.

General supervision will be received from the workshop manager, But the post holder will be required to work on his/her initiative without detailed direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

The delivery and evaluation of mechanically based programmes in the Workshop.

  •              Assist in the design and formally documentation of new programmes when instructed.
  •             The maintenance of written records as instructed.
  •             To be responsible for advising the General Manager/Workshop Manager of any breach of the Contract of Attendance by any learner.
  •             To drive vehicles where appropriate.
  •             To manage and organise the maintenance of tools, equipment, and clothing necessary for the programmes, including the keeping of appropriate inventories and to liaise with the General Manager/Workshop Manager regarding the provision of equipment where appropriate.          
  •             To maintain high standards of cleanliness, tidiness, and safety throughout the Project.
  •             To carry out such duties as may be required and are as commensurate with the post.

• Contribute and collaborate ideas, knowledge, and expertise with other sites.

• MUST hold at least a City & Guilds 7303 level 3 certificate in supervisory skills and be working towards a certificate in education ( Teaching) or level 4 equivalent in teaching if not already held.

• Qualified level 3 in motor vehicle skills

The post holder will be employed subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check beforehand and rechecked every 2 years thereafter.
