  • Category D1 or Category D licences are essential

The Role:

Join our team as a Merseylink Dial A Ride Shift Driver, primarily supporting our regional Section19 'Dial A Ride' Contract, Merseylink, operating on behalf of Merseytravel in the Liverpool City Region. As part of a 365-day operation, you'll play a crucial role in providing essential transport services to those in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport passengers, primarily on Merseylink routes.
  • Conduct daily safety checks on vehicles and report any issues.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and alighting, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Load and unload wheelchair users using appropriate equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Undertake additional training as required.


Shift Patterns:

70 hours per fortnight - operating over a pre-set shift pattern (7 x 10 hour shifts over a 14-day period) typically between 7am and 11pm (paid as 10hr a day shifts even if you only work 1hr or are stood down).

Shift Example:

Week 1: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

Week 2: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday

This is a 365 day per year operation so Bank Holidays may be rostered as part of your shift pattern with time in lieu and 25% enhancements being paid.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a pre-1997 full UK driving license with D1 minibus entitlement or post-1997 full Vocational D1 Minibus license.
  • Confidence in driving larger vehicles.
  • Flexible, with a willingness to work varied shifts.
  • Compassionate and empathetic towards passengers with disabilities.
