My client is seeking an experienced Web Processing Engineer to join their team in their Saxmundham office. Reporting to the Team Leader you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production machinery and processing equipment, ensuring that quality, productivity and compliance requirements are consistently achieved. You will:

• Operate production machinery on a daily basis, including start-up, running, shutdown and line-clearance activities, in accordance with approved procedures
• Operate and monitor process plant and associated production equipment, ensuring safe and efficient performance
• Maintain accurate and complete production records, ensuring all required information is recorded clearly and in a timely manner
• Perform in-process inspections and quality checks to confirm products meet the required specifications and quality standards
• Accurately reconcile and return unused materials following completion of each production job, in accordance with site procedures
• Identify process, equipment and quality concerns, making appropriate adjustments within the scope of the role and escalating more complex issues to the Team Leader or relevant support function
• Maintain and update machine, process and production-related documentation, ensuring records remain accurate and compliant
• Complete and maintain all job-specific production paperwork and documentation accurately and within required timescales
• Support the Team Leader with operational activities and contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the production area
• Work in accordance with all Health & Safety requirements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards and site policies
• Monitor and record reject and waste ratios, ensuring production remains within defined tolerance limits and escalating adverse trends where appropriate
• Monitor production performance against target output values for each job, identifying and reporting any significant variances
• Monitor and record machine downtime, including downtime associated with changeovers, adjustments and equipment breakdowns
• Support efficient machine changeovers and set-ups to minimise downtime while maintaining safety and quality requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities by identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, output and waste reduction

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a similar manufacturing, production or machine-processing environment
• Good knowledge and understanding of web converting machinery, manufacturing processes and associated production equipment
• A mechanical or engineering background, with a good level of practical technical knowledge
• A methodical, logical and organised approach to work and problem-solving
• Ability to investigate, identify and accurately document machine or process adjustments and alterations
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, engineering/part drawings, work instructions and production worksheets
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while recognising when issues need to be escalated.
• A good understanding of the operation, set-up and technical specifications of relevant machinery and machine assemblies
• Ability to work closely and collaboratively with the Quality team, ensuring products and processes meet required quality standards
• Good working knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) requirements and quality procedures within a manufacturing environment
• Ability to monitor production processes and machine performance, identifying potential issues or abnormalities during production
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve minor machine or process faults within the scope of the role
• A strong focus on quality, accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when completing production records and documentation
• An understanding of working within a regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 6.45pm to 4:30pm, Friday 6.45am to 1.30pm.
