This GXO site specialises in handling returns for customers of a major online clothing retailer. As a 'Returns Processor,' your role differs from a typical Warehouse Operative position. Instead, it requires a keen eye for detail and consistent decision-making skills akin to a quality inspection role.

Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously inspect returned items for any damage, wear and tear, or deviations from their original condition. Based on your inspection, you will determine whether the items can be resold in their current condition, need refurbishment, or must be marked as damaged goods.

What is a returns processor?

A returns processor is someone who handles the incoming shipments of returned products from customers. They inspect, sort, label, and package the items according to the company's policies and procedures and update the inventory records.

What are the main duties of a return's processor?

A returns processor is responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient returns process for the company. Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously inspect returned items for any damage, wear and tear, or deviations from their original condition. Based on your inspection, you will determine whether the items can be resold in their current condition, need refurbishment, or must be marked as damaged goods. You will apply labels and codes for identification and tracking, sorting, and storing the items in designated areas or bins, updating the inventory database with the status and location of the items, preparing, and packing items for reshipment or disposal, generating and printing shipping labels and invoices, and reporting any issues to the supervisor or manager.

What skills do you need to be a returns processor?

To perform their job effectively, a returns processor must possess attention to detail, autonomous decision making aligned to criteria and ability to discern which resolution process to follow, physical stamina and ability to work standing and station on repetitive tasks for long period of time, computer literacy, communication skills, and teamwork skills. For example, they must be able to inspect and verify items accurately and follow instructions for labelling, sorting, and packing them. Additionally, they must be able to lift, move, and handle heavy or bulky items for long periods of time. They also need to be proficient in using software and systems to update the inventory records.
