Job: Van driver/Waste Management Driver

Job Title: Food Waste and Used Cooking Oil Collection Driver

Responsibilities:
As a Waste Management Driver, you will be responsible for efficiently collecting, transporting, and disposing of food waste and used cooking oil from various commercial and residential establishments. This role involves driving a 3.5-tonne vehicle (Category B) and ensuring the proper management of collected materials. It's a full-time position with a 5-6 day working week, averaging 10 hours per day.

Key Duties:

- Route Planning: Strategize efficient routes for daily collections, ensuring punctual pickups and adherence to schedules.
- Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a 3.5-tonne collection vehicle, adhering to all UK road regulations.
- Collection: Load, transport, and unload food waste and used cooking oil containers from designated areas.
- Customer Interaction: Maintain professionalism when interacting with customers at collection sites, addressing inquiries and ensuring a positive experience.
- Environmental Compliance: Adhere to local and national environmental regulations regarding waste collection and disposal.
- Waste Separation: Properly segregate and manage collected materials to facilitate recycling and responsible disposal.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of collections, including quantity, location, and any encountered issues during the route.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct routine vehicle inspections and minor maintenance tasks for optimal performance.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

- Valid UK driving license (Category B) for operating a 3.5-tonne vehicle.
- Clean driving record and commitment to safe driving practices.
- Physical fitness to handle the job's physical demands, including lifting and outdoor work.
- Strong communication skills for effective customer interactions.
- Knowledge of local waste disposal regulations and environmental best practices.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time role with a 5-6 day working week.
- 10-hour shifts with potential for overtime.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and physical exertion.
- Regular use of a 3.5-tonne collection vehicle.
- Compliance with safety and environmental regulations is essential.
