Treasury Governance Manager

Central London

Up to £65,000 + bonus

Our Client, a FTSE 250 listed company within the Finance and Banking Sector, is currently seeking an experienced Business Support Manager to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role would involve management of business as usual daily operations within a Treasury setting, internal stakeholder engagement and ensuring the department responds appropriately to upcoming regulatory and business change.

The ideal candidate will be energetic and charismatic with a drive to lead the team while owning the delivery of appropriate projects as well as implementing a data management framework for the department in preparation for the introduction of new systems and databases this year.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

Strategy

  • Building strong working relationships with senior managers and stakeholders across the organisation to ensure a commonality of purpose and sharing of best practice
  • Actively participating as a subject matter expert in relevant meetings, and contributing effectively to Governance forums where required
  • Up-skilling the Business Support Team through internal and external development, remaining informed across the industry
  • Owning and adapting the purpose of the Business Support Team as the business strategy evolves

People Management

  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing staff, to maintain a top performing team
  • Providing oversight and direction to employees daily
  • Holding regular one-to-ones with direct reports, ensuring that feedback is provided in a constructive way
  • Ensuring that an effective performance review is operated in line with company guidelines
  • Ensuring that direct reports complete necessary online training when required and are kept up to date with any internal communications

Operational Risk

  • Defining the target first line operational risk model in agreement with all operational teams and senior management
  • Providing the tools required to regularly assess and measure the effectiveness of the control environment
  • Working with managers to embed first line responsibilities, ensuring that training is tailored to the audience and styles are adapted
  • Working with managers to co-ordinate first line information security and data protection activity and working within agreed control frameworks
  • Ensuring Senior Management remain updated on committee actions, audit points and other items ensuring these are tracked through to completion and owners are supported where required

· Running the monthly Treasury Operational & Conduct Risk Committee in conjunction with committee members, ensuring a clear view of risk status is provided to the Treasury Risk Committee

  • Maintaining Treasury’s standards and procedures library by establishing review schedules, and supporting the timely review and refresh of relevant documentation
  • Supporting the co-ordination of annual Financial Crime Risk Assessments to enable required activities to be completed within the agreed framework

Conduct, Risk and Compliance

  • Leading regulatory change programmes impacting the division to ensure compliance is clearly defined and agreed with all impacted stakeholders
  • Ensuring that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required
  • Providing others with a clear direction; set appropriate standards of behaviour; motivate and empower others to do the right thing
  • Representing the department in companywide programmes to ensure appropriate adherence to policies and effective embedding across the department

Data Management

  • Working closely with stakeholders to produce data quality rules and thresholds to facilitate data profiling and quality monitoring of key data produced and consumed by the department
  • Owning the department’s data retention standards and ensuring alignment with wider Group policy
  • Defining data cleansing approaches and standards where required
  • Actively participating in the local data council and contributing to the definition of standards and resolution of data issues at both the Divisional and company-wide level
  • Working alongside the data protection officer to understand the regulatory environment and assessing future issues/risks with regards to data capture and management

Skills and Experience

- Previous experience in a professional services firm with exposure to a changing environment

- Experience of understanding and delivering regulatory change in a Treasury/Finance function

- First or Second line operational risk experience

- Data management and quality experience ideal

- Excellent attention to detail

- Able to work flexible, prioritising a varied workload

- Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels

- Degree educated ideally
