They are an organisation looking to offer a creative outlet to those who otherwise have little access to the rich and transformative benefits of the arts and education. The organisation is on a growth trajectory, after joining the Arts Council National Portfolio, and are keen for new Trustee's to support the Chief Executive with their future plans.
We are looking for someone with knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
- A qualified accountant, or experience of working within the voluntary and charitable sector
- Good understanding of Charity SORP
- Auditing and risk management skills and experience
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Support the executive team and our accounting consultancy to prepare quarterly management and annual statutory accounts.
- Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures are in place.
- Monitor and report on the financial health of the organisation.
- Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.
- Attend quarterly pre-Board meetings with the executive team and Chair of Trustees, as part of the Finance sub-group.
- Attendance at four meetings each year, plus some ad hoc subcommittee meetings (2 hours each)
- Trustees are required to read Board papers in advance of each meeting, including artistic, financial and strategic reports. The format of Board papers can be adapted to meet access needs.
- Additional time if their skill set is relevant to particular areas of work.
